So many futsal memories, still alive. One day, some years ago (I guess pre-season 06/07), a summer tournament in Val D'Aosta (a region in the North of Italy) was featuring Spartak Moscow as well. As a futsal addicted I could not believe to have this chance, so I just ran there ready to enjoy the event, seeing the legendary Evgeny Lovchev on the bench and there in the pitch... a giant who used to dance. Yes, Sergio Luis Maciel Lucas, or I'd better say... Serjão, has definitely been one of my favourite players (together with a huge amount of other futsal stars). I remind people laughing at him before that tournament, as at that time in Spartak he was even "bigger" than usual, so people were wondering... how can he play? I knew the answer, his path in Europe was not yet marked but clearly defined in Brazil, but I kept silent. Well, at the end no surprises: they were all crazy about that giant... dancing on the parquet!

What is currently doing Serjão? Some time ago you were coaching Acesa Futsal. How do you evaluate your brand new coaching experience and when did you decide to start this new career after being an impressive player?
I'm not anymore coaching ACESA. Due to Covid-19 pandemic troubles and as the club mainly rely on their sponsors and fans support, in the end their management decided to go on with the young players, not counting on our technical staff.
I started coaching three years ago when I got a proposal from a friend of mine, as he suggested me to share my knowledge and experience gained during many years, so that I could help some young boys who were taking wrong paths in their life. I began this "coaching life" to help them not on becoming players but just better people, trying to move them away from drugs, something which doesn't belong to my life.

You have a huge experience playing in Brazil, in clubs like Internacional, GMC Chevrolet, Banespa, Ulbra, Joinville... do you think that (Brazilian futsal) is still to be considered as the best in the world? What is brazilian futsal missing to get even better: organization, fixtures, marketing or what else?
I believe that we still have some players we can consider as the best ones, but futsal has changed a lot in recent times, actually it already changed when I was still playing. New rules, new ways of being, nowadays as in football also futsal is dominated by the physical strenght, so that many players are leaving the technical skill aside. Just like Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi in football have been fighting for being the best in the world for a decade and the rest so concerned about the physical preparation. On a general note I think futsal in order to explode should enter the Olympic Games but I don't believe this is gonna happen as our game it's a great competitor of soccer, due to due to the proportions of salary, marketing and so on. But I believe that it is not interesting for football people to have futsal in the OG and get the appreciation it deserves, even because great players of football started in futsal. Also, I believe that in futsal you can pick up your family and go to watch the games very safely, and this is another point in comparison with football, because nowadays with this violence, fans and their fanaticism, people end up confusing things and stop cheering. Looks like they just want to fight, so the stadium ends up not becoming a safe place to go. While futsal... I'd say it is something more familiar, more cozy and close, you can't blink a minute if you don't miss a game, my opinion. I believe that despite the astronomical salaries of football, futsal is seen as a very big competitor for them, so I'm afraid that it will take a long time before we become one of the main sports in the world, even though futsal is one of the most practiced sports in the world.

Let's talk about your playing career in Brazil: I remind you achieving the Liga Futsal top scorers title with Ulbra in 2003, just to mention one thing. When did you start playing and why futsal? How have been your professional futsal life in Brazil, spent between different clubs?
I've started in Itaqui. In 1997 I was almost 18 years old and I became topscorer of the "campeonato gaúcho" (league of Rio Grande Do Sul state in Brazil, one of the strongest futsal zones in the country). It was a very hard league, many players from the Brazilian National team and some of the best goal scorers like Jorginho, Choco, Fininho, Danilo, Manoel Tobias were playing there. I scored 48 goals and my name stood out, a 17 years old guy that becomes league top scorer just playing the first stage of the challenge. So I was awarded with being selected in the State Selection of Rio Grande Do Sul (note: at that time CBFS still was organising leagues between those selections) and we won the tournament in Minas Gerais: my first ever title!
Then I moved to RESERG from Bento Gonçalves, a very good season. We could not win the league but ended third after losing to Ulbra in semifinal. In 1999 I moved to Internacional winning the Taça Brasil, then I played for GM Chevrolet and for Banespa, being South American champions.
I came back to Ulbra (note: Internacional had an agreement, "parceria" as they say, with Ulbra getting this denomination since 1995, winning the first ever Liga Futsal in 1996) when they were trying to gain the Gaúcho challenge (they previously reached the finals but could not win) which I already conquered in 2000 with Internacional. WIth Ulbra we were twice gaucho champions and world Champions in Russia in 2001. In 2002 I was back again with Internacional as they came back with the futsal team, while in 2003 I spent one more season with Ulbra, we only missed the Taca Brasil. I was top scorer in the Gaúchão and in Liga Futsal (click here) and... I was invited to play in Russia.
When I was younger I used to play football, I could not join Internacional and Juventude (football teams) as my mother, a teacher, wanted me to complete my cycle of study. So, once I completed that step my first chance to have a professional job went through futsal.

How were you invited to play in the Russian Superleague? How's the life of a brazilian man in places like Yugorsk or Moscow? So, in Russia you've played for TTG Java and Spartak, was that a good experience?
After my brilliant season with Ulbra in 2003 I got the chance to play in Russia. I got their proposal, contract, everything was fine and I decided to move there. It was one year and half contract, a new experience and a better salary: all reasons why I accepted. I lived six months in Yugorsk, a city from the Siberian region. I got a good house in the same building where Gazprom president, vice-president and vice-directors stayed, I had no reasons to complain. The "mantra" was very good, everything was different and I started learning Russian. As I love to communicate with people, things were so hard in the first days in Russia. As we could not count on an interpreter I got a notebook to write and set up my learning system. I started from the words related to the game and my job and then I went on. So that today I still speak Russian.
In the second season TTG Java was going to move its base to Moscow, in the south of Russia. Different and big city in comparison with Yugorsk. In the end, though it was a fantastic experience, I didn't renewed with TTG and got a proposal from Spartak Moscow. They had the greatest "torcida" (fans group) in Russian futsal: the sports hall was rarely sold out but this used to happen when we played the "classic" games vs clubs belonging to "traditional" football teams as well.
Paradoxically, I became better known than some soccer players, people recognized me in the streets as a Spartak Moscow futsal player, from that I could realize the club reputation. I spent two wonderful seasons with Spartak Moscow, I could not stay there for more years as the Lovchev era ended so that I came back to Brazil, but that was really a great experience.

After you came back to Brazil you had more seasons in Europe again: in Azerbaijan with Araz and in Ukraine with Uragan. What are your memories from that period?
Once I left Spartak I signed for Carlos Barbosa, a rival of my former clubs Ulbra and Internacional. I've been there for six months without winning any title but I kept scoring goals. Then I went to Joinville and that was my first bad experience. I got a calf injury and was out for 50 days, then when I could come back I played just two games before being dismissed by the club. Unfortunately I had a bad relation with the coach, something happened to me just this time in 17 years of professional career. But in the end this situation helped me, as I came back to my town and soon I got a new proposal to play in Azerbaijan in UEFA Futsal Cup, with Araz. When I arrived there the club owner was not aware that I was able to speak and understand Russian language. He was talking to my colleague, who was also used as interpreter for me, and told him that he was going to cut half of his salary if I was not ready to play with them... in these countries the club owners are quite rigid! So I was there and calm, listening my colleague translation and suddenly I asked to the owner, in Russian: but if I play are you going to pay him double?! He laughed and realized that I was able to speak Russian. So I played 3 games in the tournament, scoring 7 goals. Therefore my 40 days contract was extended until the end of the season and from that time I spent some great years in Azerbaijan, with Araz and with the national team as well. We did a great campaign with Azerbaijan (EURO 2010 in Hungary) losing to Portugal after penalties and then losing to Czech Republic but I don't value so much the 3/4 place game. But until the semifinal with Portugal our standard was fantastic, we were six/seven soldiers in the battle and we just lost on penalties, then Portugal were runners up losing in final vs Spain. In the same year we reached the semifinals in UEFA Futsal Cup in one more sensational tournament, we played in Portugal and lost vs Boomerang Interviu which was a great club with strong players, although they lost the final vs hosts SL Benfica. Then we got the third place after penalties, vs Luparense.
In Azerbaijan the league was middle level, two or three clubs were strong but the rest was quite weak. When I was playing a tournament in Kuwait during the Ramadan period I got the proposal from Ukraine (Uragan), they also invited Thiago but in the end he decided to accept a contract in Kuwait. So I went there with Biro (Biro Jade), and I spent there two years and could stay at least one more season but then I decided to come back to Baku with Araz. Honestly I regret that decision not to renew with Uragan Ivano-Frankivsk for the third year: there club fans welcomed me, futsal level in the league was very good and clubs had a good structure.
In the first season with Uragan I told that we were going to be Ukrainian champions. All the people started to laugh at me, as I was overweighted and my team mate Biro Jade was 38 years old. So all people used to say: "how can they become champions with one fat and one old man?" But in the end I was the league top scorer with 36 goals, scoring twice in our 2-1 wins vs SK Energy Lviv in the fith and last final game.
In the following season we played in UEFA Futsal Cup but we lost so many players due to injuries. Anyway we went to play in Italy and lost just for details, while in the league we reached the third place. My experience with Uragan was very good. In this second european experience I spent two years in Ukraine with Uragan and five in Azerbaijan with Araz.

National team: 2003 was one of your best ever season and you were selected to play with Brazil taking part in the prestigious tournament in Kuala Lumpur (click here). How did you feel having the chance to represent your native country? What do you remember about that experience? Coach, players...
It was a fantastic year. I remember that we were playing in Jaraguà against Malwee (featuring Falcão and coach Ferretti). I remind that I was already happy to be selected in the 15 players list as one of the three possible substituites (I don't know how things work now, but at that time 15 players used to be selected and 12 of them were actually travelling to play in the tournament). But Ulbra's season was very good and we already had half of the roster in national team: players like Neto, Tatu, Ari and Rafael. I remember that we won 5-0 in Jaraguà and I scored three goals: after the game I was speaking to a journalist in an interview and he told me that I was going to move to Malaysia with the national team due to the fact that another player was injured so that I was going to replace him. I felt an indescribable emotion. So we went to Malaysia and we played an excellent tournament, represent my country and sing our national anthem was an unbelievable feeling. Unfortunately we lost the final against Argentina and that was very sad as we knew that for some of us this was the only and last chance to be selected for Brazil. But anywat this was an unforgettable experience, I still have the Brazil shirt and the team picture from that tournament and I keep the memories in my heart.

Let's keep talking about natiional teams. Later in your career you had the chance to be naturalized and become Azeri citizen, playing with Azerbaijan futsal team. How did this happen? Is it a weird feeling represent a nation in Europe after having played for Brazil, as happened also to many others between your colleagues in different countries?
You're right, it's a little bit weird as brazilians, or al least me, love so much their country. And I love my state in Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, I'm a gaucho at the borders with Uruguay (Serjão is from Santana do Livramento, next to the Uruguayan city Rivera). So we surely like and love our native places. This happened with many other players who represented Spain, a lof of them Italy for example. I believe that so many good quality players maybe didn't have a chance with Brazil so that when they got the chance to play in another national team you don't even think twice and you accept. To me it was a sport challenge and I adore those challenges.Azeri national team had never achieved the qualification for the final stage, so when we got invited to play we told them that we were going to make it.We played the qualifiers in Portugal and we ended as first (7 points as hosts Portugal, we tied 3-3 vs them in the last minutes due to a penalty after being winning 3-2). But it was very good, something different as you play in an european sports venue. I remember that in my room I was talking about this with Biro Jade, who's now coaching in Kazakhstan, and we agreed on the fact that this is is a different kind of emotion. It's not your native country but but you don't expect such a feeling to come in your life. I remind we were playing in Hungary against the tournaments hosts, the venue was sold out and 7.000 fans were against us. But we won 3-1 and that was unforgettable, a great emotion. Our UEFA Futsal EURO 2010 in Hungary was fantastic, pity we could not reach the final but ending in the best four was a great achievement.
Try to see the future: will you keep up your futsal life? As a coach maybe?
For sure I would love to work as a coach. I've enjoyed my first experience with ACESA but there the team was composed of young guys who admired me for my playing career so that it was easier for me to provide them with my experience and job. The team was very good, we could set up a great structure if we think that we were competing in the bronze series (a kind of third state division) as my request to the club was to have a structure similar to the one I experienced with Ulbra, and they did it for me. No doubts I'd like to coach, I have a lot of set plays that I love to see in the game as I did when I was an active player. I'm also trying to improve my knowledge, as I've attended a coaching course with Paulinho Cardoso, who was my coach at RESERG, with Marquinhos Xavier and Ferretti. I also try to read and update my preparation without losing all the things that proved to be right in my futsal life. I've never focused only on this and I would be ready also for a different work, but If I will have the chance to be again a coach I would surely take it and try to do a good job.

O que faz agora, Serjão? Sabemos que está atuando como treinador, mas segue como treinador da Acesa Futsal ainda? Como é a nova experiência de treinar e quando decidiu iniciar como treinador?
Não faço mais parte da ACESA. E também devido a pandemia da Covid-19, a equipe depende de recursos de patrocinadores e de torcedores, sendo assim a ACESA optou por trabalhar com a categoria de base, só os atletas mais jovens e não fazia parte da nossa comissão. E quando eu resolvi ser treinador, foi através do convite de um amigo, há três anos, e ele pediu que eu passasse um pouco do conhecimento que adquiri durante os anos e compartilhasse com a gurizada, para resgatar alguns jovens que estavam indo para o caminho errado, sempre para ajudar, não com intuito de ser jogador, mas com a intenção de tirar eles desse caminho e torná-los cidadãos melhores e fazer com que eles tivessem uma ocupação, e tirá-los dessa vida das drogas que não faz parte da minha vida.
Vc tem uma grande experiência no Brasil em times como Internacional, GMC Chevrolet, Banespa, Ulbra, Joinville... Acha que o futsal brasileiro ainda é o melhor do mundo? O que falta pra ser ainda melhor? Organização? Calendário? Marketing?
Eu acredito que ainda temos alguns jogadores que são melhores, mas o futsal mudou muito, assim como na minha época já havia mudado bastante, novas regras, novos jeitos de ser, hoje em dia, assim como no futebol de campo o que prevalece muito é a parte física, então o pessoal está deixando a parte técnica mais de lado, sendo vistos, os exemplos do futebol de campo que durante mais de uma década tivemos apenas, dois jogadores concorrendo ao melhor do mundo Cristiano Ronaldo e Messi, então ficou sempre nessa dupla, e o pessoal muito preocupado com a parte física. Em modo geral, para o futsal estourar em si, primeiro tinha que se tornar olímpico, mas acredito que não irá se tornar porque o futsal é um grande concorrente do futsal de campo, devido às proporções de salário, marketing e assim por diante, mas eu acredito que não é interessante para o futebol de campo o futsal ser olímpico, ter a valorização que merece até porque grandes craques que surgiram no campo iniciaram no futsal. E acredito que que no futsal tu pode pegar a tua família e ir assistir aos jogos bem tranquilo, sendo isso uma grande concorrência para o futebol de campo, porque hoje em dia com essa violência, os torcedores e o fanatismo, as pessoas acabam confundindo as coisas e deixam de torcer, querem brigar, então o estádio acaba não se tornando um local seguro para ir com a sua família. E no futsal sim, é uma coisa mais familiar, mais aconchegante, mais pertinho, não pode piscar um minuto se não perde um lance do jogo, minha visão. Acredito que o nosso concorrente, apesar dos salários astronômicos do futebol de campo, acho que seria um concorrente muito grande para eles, então acredito que ainda vai faltar muito para gente se tornar um dos principais esportes, mesmo sendo um dos esportes mais praticados do mundo.
Falemos de sua carreira no Brasil: lembro de vc como artilheiro na Liga Futsal 2003 com Ulbra, por exemplo. Quando começou a jogar no Brasil e por que escolheu o futsal? Como foi a vida profissional no Brasil nos vários times?
Eu iniciei em Itaqui, em 1997, tinha 17 para 18 anos, naquele ano me tornei artilheiro do campeonato gaúcho, era um campeonato muito forte, onde a maioria dos jogadores do Brasil jogavam aqui. Fui artilheiro porque fiz 48 gols e me destaquei porque no campeonato estavam todos os atletas da Seleção Brasileira e os principais artilheiros Jorginho, Choco, Fininho, Danilo, Manoel Tobias, então, um menino com 17 anos se torna artilheiro jogando apenas a primeira fase, com isso ganhei destaque e fui convocado para a Seleção dos Estados que antigamente tinha os campeonatos, e nos consagramos campeões em Minas Gerais, onde foi o meu primeiro título. Depois passei pela RESERG em Bento Gonçalves, onde foi um ano muito bom, não ganhamos o campeonato, mas ficamos em terceiro lugar perdemos para a Ulbra na semifinal. Em 1999, fui para o Internacional, já fui campeão da taça Brasil, depois passei pela GM, após para o BANESPA, onde fomos campeões Sul Americanos. Voltei para a Ulbra, a Ulbra ainda não tinha ganho o Campeonato Gaúcho, tinha jogado às finais mais havia perdido. e eu já tinha sido campeão em 2000 com o Internacional, acabei voltando para a Ulbra através de convite, e acabei sendo bicampeão e fomos campeões do mundo na Rússia. Em 2002, o Internacional resolveu a voltar com o futsal e acabaram me convidando para voltar. Em 2003, voltei para Ulbra, só perdemos a taça Brasil. Fui artilheiro da Liga do Gaúchão. E aí veio o convite para jogar na Rússia. Eu jogava futebol de campo e gostava de jogar, mas aí a minha mãe era professora e em 1992, o Internacional quis me levar e a´mãe não deixou pq achou que e eu não ia estudar. E em 1995, o Parmalat veio com convite para eu jogar no Juventude, em Caxias do Sul, mas a minha mãe disse que enquanto eu não concluísse o ensino médio eu não iria jogar, então foi o que aconteceu, eu terminei o ensino médio em 1996. E daí eu jogava futebol de campo o Uruguai e jogava futsal no Brasil, e a oportunidade no futsal chegou primeiro.
Como surgiu a posibilidade de vc viajar pra Rússia e jogar na liga ali? Como é a vida de um brasileiro em lugares como Yugorsk ou Moscou? Jogou no Gazprom e Spartak, como foi a experiência?
No ano de 2003 o que fizemos pela Ulbra no final do ano, acabou nos dando a oportunidade de jogar na Rússia. E aí veio o convite, o contrato, veio tudo e acabamos mudando para lá. Era um contrato de um ano e meio, uma nova experiência com o salário melhor, foi o que levou nos a irmos para lá. Eu morei seis meses em Iugorsky, uma cidade da região da Sibéria, nós morávamos numa casa muito boa no mesmo condomínio do presidente, vice-presidente e vice diretores da Gazprom, então não tinha o que falar. Morava eu e o mantra foi muito legal e no início é tudo diferente, acabei aprendendo a falar russo. Por conta disso, eu gosto muito de me comunicar então era muito difícil falar com as pessoas e como nós tínhamos um tradutor eu fui aprendendo comprei um caderninho e fiz o meu sistema de aprendizagem. Comecei com as coisas de quadra e depois foi indo e hoje em dia ainda falo russo. No segundo ano mudamos a base para Moscou, no sul de Moscou E aí é outra coisa diferente, Moscou é outra cidade, é uma cidade muito grande diferente de Iugorski. Mas acabei não ficando em Iugorski, porém foi uma experiência fantástica. Houve o convite do Spartak, onde tinha a maior torcida Rússia, poucas vezes se via um ginásio lotado, mas era sempre quando fazíamos o clássico com os times de camisa, então em termos de conhecimento, eu fiquei muito mais conhecido que até muito jogador de futebol de campo, eu andava na rua as pessoas me reconheciam por jogar no clube Spartak, aí que nós víamos a idoneidade do clube, então foram dois anos maravilhosos, e não ficamos mais porque o projeto Lovchev terminou e acabamos retornando para o Brasil, mas a experiência foi excepcional.
Depois vc jogou ainda algumas temporadas na Europa: em Azerbaijão con Araz e na Ucrânia com Uragan. Que lembranças tem das duas experiências?
Depois que eu saí do Spartak, fui jogar em Carlos Barbosa, que sempre foi um time adversário da Ulbra e do Internacional, acabei jogando seis meses lá, não ganhei títulos, mas os gols continuaram saindo. Após fui para o Joinville, onde tive muitas experiências boas, mas a primeira experiência ruim que tive na minha carreira, onde fui mandado embora do Clube, por conta de uma lesão na panturrilha e fiquei afastado durante 50 dias devido a lesão. E quando eu voltei atuei em duas partidas, durante esses 17 anos, posso dizer que essa é uma pessoa que eu não gosto, porque foi mau caráter, o treinador do Joinville, mas no fim acabou me ajudando porque eu voltei para a casa, e logo em seguida recebi o convite para ir jogar no Azerbaijão jogar as fases da Copa da UEFA. E quando eu cheguei lá, o presidente não sabia que eu falava russo, e conversando com o meu colega que era tradutor ele falou que se eu não jogasse ele ia cortar meio salário do meu colega, porque nesses países os donos de equipe são bem rígidos. Até então, eu estava quieto, só escutando a conversa, deixando que o meu colega traduzisse, aí eu perguntei para ele em russo, e se eu jogar você vai pagar ele dobrado? e o presidente deu risada porque ele não sabia que eu falava. Aí eu joguei 3 jogos fiz 7 gols, e então o contrato que era de 40 dias se estendeu até o final da temporada, e partir de então foram anos maravilhosos com o time jogando campeonatos de seleções, numa campanha fantástica e inesperada por todos, acabamos perdendo para Portugal nos pênaltis, aí o terceiro lugar eu nem conto, mas até Portugal foi fantástico o que jogamos, éramos seis ou sete soldados que fomos na batalha e acabamos perdendo nos pênaltis. Portugal acabou sendo vice para a Espanha. E naquele mesmo ano, chegamos na semifinal da UEFA que foi sensacional também, jogamos em Portugal, mas perdemos para o Interview que era um timaço, uma seleção e grandes jogadores, e quem se consagrou campeão foi o Benfica naquele ano jogando em casa. E nós ganhamos nos pênaltis ganhando do Luparense. No Azerbaijão o campeonato sempre foi muito médio, eram duas ou três equipes fortes e o restante bem fracas. E acabou surgindo o convite para ir jogar na Ucrânia, nós fomos jogar no Kuwait na época do Ramadã e quando estávamos lá surgiu o convite, que a princípio era pra mim e o Thiago, mas ele acabou ficando no Kuwait. E no fim fomos eu e o Biro, foram dois anos assim que poderiam ter sido mais, mas acredito que é uma coisa que eu me arrependa porque eu não quis renovar o terceiro ano preferi voltar para o Azerbaijão, mas é uma das poucas coisas que eu me arrependo, podia ter ficado mais ano porque foi onde a torcida me acolheu, o futsal foi muito bom e o campeonato bem forte, onde equipes eram estruturadas. E no primeiro ano quando eu cheguei, falei que íamos ser campeões, e todo mundo começou a rir porque eu estava acima do peso, o Biro tinha 38 anos, aí eles falaram como um gordo e um velho vão ser campeões. Mas no fim, fui artilheiro com 36 gols, fazendo os dois gols do título da vitória de 2x1, no quinto jogo da série. No segundo ano jogamos a copa da UEFA, mas perdemos muitos jogadores por conta de lesões, mas igual fomos jogar na Itália, e acabamos perdendo por detalhes, essa foi uma experiência boa com o Uragan, ficamos em terceiro lugar no campeonato. Foram dois anos de Uragan e cinco anos de Araz.
Seleção: em 2003, em uma das suas melhores fases no Brasil, vc foi convocado pra Seleção (jogando por exemplo o torneio em Kuala Lumpur). Qual a sensação de poder defender seu país natal? O que vc lembra da experiência com a Seleção Brasileira (jogadores, treinador, etc)?
Foi um ano fantástico, eu me lembro como se fosse hoje o dia da minha convocação, nós estávamos jogando lá em Jaraguá, contra a equipe da Malwee, onde jogava o Falcão, do treinador Ferretti. Eu me lembro que já estava feliz por ser suplemente, eu não sei como funciona agora, mas antigamente convocavam 15 jogadores e viaja 12 jogadores. E eu era um dos suplentes, e só em ser lembrado já era maravilhoso, também outros jogadores pivôs. Mas a campanha da Ulbra era ótima, já ia o Neto, o Tatu, o Ari e o Rafael, já ia a metade do nosso time, e tu ser lembrado é porque o trabalho estava certo, então eu já estava feliz. E eu lembro que naquele dia foi muito especial porque nós acabamos vencendo a Malwee lá em Jaraguá, por 5x0, sendo que eu fiz 3 gols, e dei uma entrevista onde o repórter me dá a notícia que eu acabava de ter sido convocado para jogar o torneio na Malásia, porque alguém havia machucado, senti uma emoção sem explicação. Fomos para a Malásia, fizemos um torneio excelente, a emoção de estar lá representando o teu país é incrível, cantar o hino nacional. Mas, infelizmente acabamos perdendo para a Argentina. A tristeza foi muito grande, por ali sabíamos que era uma oportunidade única, porque ali a maioria não seria convocado novamente. Mas a sensação de representar o seu país é indescritível tenho até hoje a camiseta, a foto e a lembrança que guardo no coração.
Seguindo falando de seleções: logo surgiu a possibilidade de vc se naturalizar azeri e jogar pro Azerbaijão? Como foi? É algo "estranho" jogar pra uma seleção europeia depois de ter jogado pro Brasil, como também aconteceu com muitos outros atletas do Brasil no futsal?
Tem razão, é muito estranho porque nós brasileiros, eu pelo menos gosto muito do Brasil, e gosto muito do meu estado que é o Rio Grande do Sul, sou gaúcho da fronteira com o Uruguai, então nós gostamos muito dos lugares da onde viemos, como aconteceu com vários outros atletas que jogaram pela seleção da Espanha, pela seleção da Itália principalmente, então muitos não tiveram oportunidade na nossa seleção, até por existirem muitos jogadores de qualidade, então quando acaba vindo o convite você acaba nem pensa duas vezes, você acaba aceitando, então para nós lá era um desafio, e eu adoro desafio, o time nunca havia se classificado e quando veio o convite nós afirmamos que íamos passar e jogamos a eliminatória em Portugal. Passamos em primeiro junto com Portugal, fizemos 7 pontos, empatamos o jogo com Portugal em 3x3, mas nós estávamos vencendo por 3x2, aí acabamos cedendo ao empate faltando minutos finais, num pênalti, mas excelente, algo diferente você está entrando num ginásio europeu, eu lembro que depois no quarto eu e o Biro conversávamos, Biro que é treinador lá no Cazaquistão, que foi meu colega durante anos, nós conversávamos que é uma emoção diferente, não é o nosso país natal, mas é algo que você não espera, quando você nasce você não imagina essas na tua vida, então tu entra num ginásio, lembro quando jogamos na Húngria o ginásio lotado, e nós jogando contra o time da casa ganhamos de 3x1, então foi uma emoção muito grande, 7 mil torcedores, torcendo contra, é uma emoção bem boa. E foi uma Copa da europa fantástica pena que não chegamos na final, mas para nós só em chegar em entre os 4 melhores foi excepcional.
Futuro: seguirá com o futsal na tua vida? Como treinador?
Gostar, eu gostaria, mas a minha primeira experiência na ACESA eu gostei muito, mas eram atletas jovem, que me admiravam como jogador, então eram fãs, ficava fácil de passar as minhas vivências, os meus trabalhos. A minha equipe era muito boa, nós montamos uma ótima estrutura para uma equipe de série bronze, porque foi uma das minhas exigências, de ter as estruturas parecidas com as quais eu tinha na Ulbra e eles proporcionaram. Mas gostaria sim, acompanho todos, tenho um caderno de jogadas ensaiadas, de saídas de bolas, de coisas que eu gosto, de coisas que eu vivi, de coisas que eu aprendi de coisas que acredito. Fui a um curso com o Paulinho Cardoso que foi meu treinador na RESERG, com Marquinhos Xavier e Ferretti, estou sempre lendo, sempre buscando me atualizar,mas sem perder a minha convicção das coisas que sempre deram resultado na minha vida, então nunca foquei só nisso porque eu prefiro até trabalhar, mas se pintar a oportunidade com certeza irei e vou fazer um belo trabalho.
