A today joint press release by CONMEBOL and UEFA confirmed something whispered on the international stage in the last months. In the wake of yesterday football Finalissima, the same competition will be introduced for futsal as well. This means that the impressive Movistar Arena based in the Villa Crespo barrio of Buenos Aires (Argentina) will host the first historical edition between last CONMEBOL Copa América Futsal - Paraguay 2022 winners Argentina and runners-up Paraguay and UEFA Futsal EURO - Netherlands 2022 winners Portugal and third placed Spain (replacing suspended runners-up Russia).

This amazing international challenge will take place between 16 and 18 September 2022. According to our informations both Confederations are currently evaluating the possible introduction of the same event for women's futsal and futsal clubs after season 22/23.

More stuff is involved in the Confederations agreement, as reported in the press release:

UEFA and CONMEBOL have also agreed to continue with the exchange of referees for a variety of competitions and referees’ courses following the excellent results of the exchange and the positive feedback received from the officials involved.

Furthermore, UEFA and CONMEBOL are currently working on the mutual recognition of coaching qualifications with the aim of this coming into effect in the course of 2023, in accordance with an agreed timeline and set of requirements.
