New goals and ambitions. After missing the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup ticket to Lithuania, the Mozambican FA is looking to relaunch the national team as well as the game in the country, and with this purpose a new head coach has been appointed. We're talking about Faruk Gulamo Mahomed Ismael, in futsal usually known as "Farukito". Farukito is replacing Naimo Abdul, who was in charge since November 2015.

Former player, with a great journey in the national team as well, Farukito was currently working as a coach (in clubs like Grupo Desportivo Iquebal, Liga Desportiva de Maputo and Atlético de Maputo) and was also recently collaborating with the National Futsal Committee in the national teams department.

So, Farukito's tasks will be the following, as reported by the Mozambican FA: qualifying for the CAN (they mean: Futsal Africa Cup of Nations) and then for the World Cup 2024. Also, developing the game in the country, raising the name of Mozambique on the international futsal stage.

We will elaborate a working plan in order to achieve our goals" said Farukito during his appointment in the FMF headquarters. We know that in this moment no futsal competitions are running in the country but we'll do our best to get ready in five months for the COSAFA tournament", he added.
