one year ago, when announcing the Best National Team in the World nominees, we were hoping things to come back to normal as soon as possibile. Unfortunately this happened only in part, so that we’re still dealing with a different kind of life. As obvious this situation affected international futsal as well, with no games played between early March and middle September, this made today choice very hard! In the end we could not avoid, as done for the National Team Coaches category, to give our priority to the World Cup Qualifiers, hopefully we will have more options in 2021!
But let’s stay high and never give up: our magnificent game, the best sport on earth, will be soon back in full swing!
Last but not least: we want to dedicate this year “Best National Team Award” to all the England Futsal community, betrayed and abandoned by its own FA which in 2018 released their six years strategy “Fast Forward with Futsal” and then “cancelled the game” in the last months of 2020, even denying the Futsal National Team to take part in the EURO 2022 play-off games in North Macedonia.
While we can understand budget cuts in Covid-19 times, we firmly believe that is absolutely unacceptable that a big FA like the English one has no chance to run at least an “A” and “U19” men teams as well to introduce a “Women” national team. How can this happen? How can this be explained or justified through their priority to “win major trophies in football”? Honestly, sounds like a joke and a clear lack of respect for people who dedicated their life to futsal, and we know what this means.
Once again we will support all English futsal lovers in having their rights and dreams back!
