2020 Concacaf Futsal Championship

Miami (Thursday, February 20, 2020

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) conducted the official draw for the 2020 Concacaf Futsal Championship, at the Concacaf Headquarters in Miami, FL.

The draw for the tournament scheduled to be played May 1-10, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, was conducted by Concacaf Director of Competitions Carlos Fernandez and determined the path to the final for the 20 participating Concacaf Member Associations. The four groups are as follows (listed in the order drawn):


Group A
A1: Guatemala
A2: Trinidad and Tobago
A3: Guadeloupe
A4: Sint Maarten or Martinique

Group B
B1: Panama
B2: Mexico
B3: Curacao
B4: Suriname or French Guiana

Group C
C1: Costa Rica
C2: Canada
C3: Haiti
C4: Saint Kitts and Nevis or Dominican Republic

Group D
D1: Cuba
D2: USA
D3: El Salvador
D4: Nicaragua or Puerto Rico

The 10-day competition will be played in two stages, beginning with a Qualifying Stage and followed by a Championship Stage – group stage and knockout stage. The Qualifying Stage will consist of four matchups between the lowest ranked 8 participating teams, according to the Concacaf Futsal Ranking as of February 2020. The four matchups are as follows:

Matchup 1: Sint Maarten vs Martinique
Matchup 2: Suriname vs French Guiana
Matchup 3: Saint Kitts and Nevis vs Dominican Republic
Matchup 4: Nicaragua vs Puerto Rico

After a two-game series on May 1 and 2, the four series winners will advance to the group stage of the Championship, joining the top ranked 12 teams. The round-robin group stage will be played May 4-6, followed by the quarterfinals on May 8, the semifinals on May 9 and the third place and final match on Sunday, May 10.

The 2020 Concacaf Futsal Championship will be played at the Domo Polideportivo and Teodoro Palacios Flores Gymnasium. Both venues have a long history within Futsal, after having hosted multiple international competitions, including the 2000 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
