Penalties drama, bronze for Russia
A penalty missed by Ukraine's Forsyuk was probably the only difference in an extremely balanced game in Gondomar. Both teams started at the same level, with Sydorenko missing the Ukrainian lead. Then, two poor defenses by Ukraine determined the double Russian advantage through Danilova and Lebedeva. Game over? Not at all, as a perfect double penalty realized by Volovenko sent the teams at half fime on a 2-1 score in favour of Russia.

Ukraine proved to be better during the greatest part of second half and got a more than deserved tie through a penalty by Yulia Tytova (our MVP regardless the defeat) after Ivanova was booked having stopped a goal attempt by Forsyuk. The scored didn't change until the end, 2-2

Russian smile
Even if the impression is that the Russian women squad has reached the end of a quite glorious period they could at least get an historical bronze medal scoring all their three penalties (Filisova, Chernova and Olkova). Ukraine answered with Dubytska and Volovenko until the unlucky attempt by Forsyuk

Futsalplanet MVP: Julia Tytova
