Group A: Dalian Yuan Dynasty FC 3-3 Vamos FC

Friday, August 3, 2018

Yogyakarta: Vamos FC came from 3-1 down to secure a 3-3 draw against Dalian Yuan Dynasty in Group A of the AFC Futsal Club Championship Indonesia 2018 on Friday.
The result puts Vamos on four points, three ahead of Dalian who lost 6-1 to three-time champions Nagoya Oceans in their opening match.

Syahidansyah Lubis missed a chance to put Vamos ahead in the first minute when he could not latch onto a weighted pass by Marvin Alexa Wossiry.

Dalian sat back and were cautious to commit players upfront, delivering long balls in the hope of catching Vamos by surprise.

Spurred on by their home supporters, Vamos went ahead in the fourth minute when Lubis squared the ball for Wossiry whose long-range shot took a deflection past Dalian goalkeeper Feng Xiaoyu.

Vamos, who cruised to a 6-1 victory over Victoria University College in their opening match, almost doubled their lead in the sixth minute when Anzar found space in the box following a free-kick but his effort was denied by the post.

Vamos’ movement was fluid as they pressured Dalian with a barrage of shots.

The home side came close to scoring but were denied by the underside of the crossbar when Nandi Sumawijaya failed to make it count after picking up a loose ball in the box following Wossiry’s powerful strike at Feng.

Feng was in top form throughout the half, as he kept Vamos at bay.

Dalian came out strongly in the second half and were rewarded two minutes in when a stretched Vamos could not contain Peng Boyao’s surging run as he fed Diogo Henrique Terozeni to tap in from close range.

Terozeni picked up his second in the 32nd minute when his shot flew past Vamos goalkeeper Mostafa Nazari to put Dailan 2-1 up.

Li Zhiheng, unmarked at the top of the box, scored Dalian’s third in the 36th minute when he cleverly rounded Mostafa but Vamos replied with two minutes left after they activated the power play which saw Dennis Guna Bawana scoring from close range.

With seven seconds left on the clock, Vamos ended the tie emphatically when they equalised through Bagus Himawan.

Vamos will next play Nagoya Oceans on Sunday while Dalian will take on Victoria University College.
Dalian Yuan Dynasty FC Head Coach Lee Jian Lei: "I'm happy with my players' performance, they maintained their position well but we gave away goals carelessly and that cost us the win. It happens sometimes and it's because of the mentality of some of the players. We will fight hard for the three points in the next game in order for us to have a chance."

Vamos FC Head Coach Reza Falahzadeh
"I want to say congrats to Dalian, unfortunately we lost two points and have to wait for the next match to find out if we qualify for the next round. It's our mistake and I support my players 100 percent."

Group B: Nafit Al Wasat 4-3 Thai Son Nam

Friday, August 3, 2018

Yogyakarta: Nafit Al Wasat came from a goal down and survived a late Thai Son Nam revival to seal a 4-3 win in Group B of the AFC Futsal Club Championship Indonesia 2018 at the Gor Amongrogo on Friday.
After an opening day win, Thai Son Nam knew a second win would secure them a spot in the Knockout Stage, while Nafit - who only had one point to their name - needed a win to give them a good chance of progressing.

Thai Son Nam's early aggression paid dividends just two minutes into the game when Ton That Phi’s shot forced Nafit goalkeeper Yahya Abdulnoor Raheem into making a save, but Roberto Tobe Belope then latched onto the rebound to hit home from close range.

Nafit, however, were not ruffled by the early goal and continued to play patiently when in possession, using Thai Son Nam’s heavy pressure to their advantage. By the 15th minute, however, Miguel Rodrigo’s side had to resort to a more defensive strategy after committing five fouls that allowed the Iraqi side to slowly encroach into opposition territory.

Going into the second half, Haitham Abbas Bawei’s charges turned it up a notch and matched Thai Son Nam’s aggression, and the equaliser was imminent. In the 25th minute, Farhad Tavakoli was positioned perfectly to do a slick flick-up and released an unstoppable volley from near the second penalty spot to level the scores.

Things turned in Nafit’s favour when Waleed Khalid found the back of the net with his second shot after his initial strike rebounded off the left post to make it 2-1 in the 31st minute.

Less than two minutes later, Thai Son Nam ‘keeper Ho Van Y was shown the yellow card after tackling Hussein Abd Ali Mohammed in the box, and Ghodrat Bahadori stepped up to take the spot kick. He made no mistake with his left-footed strike to claim a two-goal lead.

Thai Son Nam opted for power play and their five-men attacking force managed to reduced their deficit with That Phi sliding the ball in from close range in the 36th minute, but it backfired shortly after when Tavakoli intercepted a pass and launched the ball into an unguarded goalmouth.

Nguyen Minh Tri etched his name on the scoresheet with his 38th minute effort but it proved to be too little as Nafit claimed a comeback win.

Nafit will play their final Group B tie against Korea Republic’s Jeonju MAG FC, while Thai Son Nam take on Al Dhafra of the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

Nafit Al Wasat Head Coach Haitham Abbas Bawei
"I am very happy because it was a big match against a hard team today. I have already set my mind on the next match against the Korean team (Jeonju MAG FC). In every game, we have a new plan and tactics because every team is different. And we will have new tactics against them."

Thai Son Nam Head Coach Miguel Rodrigo
"We didn't deserve this result, we didn't deserve to lose this game. In the first half we played so well, especially in the first 10 minutes. We had a lot of opportunities, but after five fouls, we couldn't keep pressing. In the second half, it was equal. They had some chances and punished us. After it was 2-1, we lost a bit of control, and maybe it was one of the main reasons (for the loss). We tried to come back into the game with power play and we almost did it. Now, we have to forget about this result and focus on the next game. It's going to be the final, not just for us but for Al Dhafra as well.

Group A: Victoria University College FC 0-4 Nagoya Oceans

Friday, August 3, 2018

Yogyakarta: Three-time champions Nagoya Oceans advanced to the quarter-finals of the AFC Futsal Club Championship Indonesia 2018 after defeating Victoria University College 4-0 in a Group A tie on Friday.
Nagoya lead Group A with maximum points, ahead of Vamos FC on four, while Dalian Yuan Dynasty FC have a point with Victoria bottom.

Pedro Costa’s men, who beat Dalian 6-1 in their opener, stamped their authority early in the match as they held the majority of possession but found it hard to break Victoria down.

As slick as Nagoya were in their passing, Victoria chased every ball down and gave the Japanese little room to operate as goalkeeper Nyi Nyi San was hardly troubled.

Victoria’s best chance came in the 11th minute when Nyein Min Soe fired a low drive just wide off the post.

It was not long before the East Asians found the net in the 13th minute when Neto Antonio Hirata connected off a corner to poke the ball past goalkeeper Nyi.

Ryohei Ando doubled Nagoya’s lead three minutes later after executing a beautiful volley off a corner which found the bottom right of the net.

With a minute left in the half, Victoria tried to fight back and came close to finding the net but Myo Nyint Soe’s effort from close range flew past the crossbar.

In the second half, Nagoya kept up the pressure but it was Victoria who had the better chance four minutes in when Nyein - with only the keeper to beat - fired his effort low but was blocked by Nagoya custodian Shinoda Ryuma.

Nagoya was in full flow in the 27th minute when Hashimoto Masaya fed Luiz Fernando Cardozo who found space on top of the arc as he cooly found the bottom right of the net for a 3-0 lead.

Nagoya almost scored their fourth two minutes later when captain Hoshi Ryuta unleashed a long range strike but his effort found the crossbar.

Ryosuke Nishitani made it 4-0 in the 36th minute when he pounced on a defensive error from Victoria and fired a low drive past Nyi.

Victoria, who lost 8-1 to Vamos on Wednesday, could not match their opponents speed and agility as Nagoya sailed to a 4-0 victory.

Nagoya will next play Vamos on Sunday while Victoria take on Dalian.

Victoria University College Head Coach Htay Myint
"In our first match we had many players who had no experience playing in the Championship and we learned from that game against Vamos. Today we were a little more confident against Nagoya and we tried to play our best. We tried very hard to get a goal but it did not happen. Dalian are one of the best teams, they are better than us in everything but we will try hard to win."

Nagoya Oceans Head Coach Pedro Costa
"We found it difficult to get the goal at the start of the first half, the same was for the second. We expected a closed defence and we were confident of getting the goal. We had almost 90 percent of possession but Victoria made it really hard for us. We have to be able to score more goals and we are not happy with our game today. There are a lot of teams who are better than us, and we have to improve in the last 15 metres. Passing is good but we have to be more clinical up front because futsal without goals is nothing."

Group B: Jeonju MAG FC 2-9 Al Dhafra FC

Friday, August 3, 2018

Yogyakarta: United Arab Emirates’ Al Dhafra clawed back from a goal down to secure an impressive 9-2 win over Jeonju MAG FC from Korea Republic on Friday.
After witnessing Nafit Al Wasat’s 4-3 win over Thai Son Nam in the day’s earlier match, Jeonju understood that anything less than a draw meant an early exit and the Koreans eagerly set out to make an impact.

Less than two minutes into the match, Kim In-woo opened the scoring from a difficult position on the left flank with his left-footed strike into the top right corner, courtesy of Lee Young-hoon’s last-ditch pass from the box.

Despite the advantage, it was Al Dhafra who kept the pace of the game, holding the lion’s share of possession and forcing Jeonju goalkeeper Jang Si-won into making multiple saves.

However, Al Dhafra finally broke through Jeonju’s defence with Mohamed Abdulla Fadaaq driving the ball past Jang from close range in the eighth minute, before scoring his second in similar fashion from the same spot a minute later.

Jeonju suffered further set-back, as Young-hoon’s poor ball control in the 14th minute was heavily punished when Younis Ahmed Al Hammadi latched onto the loose ball and released a superb strike.

Mohamed Hassan Al Hammadi, who featured in the UAE’s national team in the 2018 AFC Futsal Championship last February, brought along his wealth of experience as he showed perfect ball control in the last two seconds of the first half, feeding an oncoming Vassoura with an easy strike to claim a three-goal lead going into the break.

In the 26th minute, Fadaaq completed his hat-trick from a wonderfully taken corner set-piece, before Sabry Jamil Hezam etched his name on the scoresheet a minute later when he surged down the court unassisted and dribbled through every Jeonju defender and Jang to make it 6-1.

Lee Young-jin’s charges showed moments of brilliance in their quick counter-attacks but their runs failed to make it through Nafit’s bastion in the form of custodian Hassan Ali Al Hantoobi.

Throughout the match, Vassoura displayed incredible footwork, and in the 33rd minute his individual skill and pinpoint pass into the box found Hezam but it was Fadaaq who made the finish.

Jeonju skipper Shin Jong-hoon reduced their deficit a minute later, but Hamdan Abdulla Al Katheeri restored Al Dhafra’s six-goal lead in the 38th minute before Vassoura ended proceedings with his second goal of the night.

The win takes Al Dhafra level with Nafit on four points, while Jeonju sit last behind Thai Son Nam.

Al Dhafra will look to seal their quarter-final berth when they go up against Thai Son Nam, and Jeonju take on Nafit in their final Group B tie on Sunday.

Al Dhafra Head Coach Luis Cilleros
"They (Jeonju) didn't have a lot of confidence and we took advantage of it. Thai Son Nam is a very good tactical team with an experienced player Roberto Tobe Belope. They are going to be difficult for us, as they play fast, but our team is the same. The team who makes less mistakes will win the match."

Jeonju MAG FC Head Coach Lee Young-jin
"Iraq is one of the best teams here. Today I saw a lot of problems, and there will be things that we will improve on in tomorrow's training. My team dealt well against the heavy pressures. We also had a lot of chances but didn't score, so that's another aspect to focus on."

Himawan: We can surprise Nagoya

Saturday, August 4, 2018

Yogyakarta: As the clock wound down at the Gor Uny in Yogyakarta, the intensity was just revving up as Vamos FC trailed 2-3 against Dalian Yuan Dynasty FC in a Group A tie at the AFC Futsal Club Championship Indonesia 2018 on Friday.
As Dalian looked destined for their first win of the tournament, Vamos applied the power play in a last ditch attempt to salvage the tie.

As luck would have, Bagus Himawan came to Vamos’ rescue with less than seven seconds left to send the home fans into a frenzy when he levelled the score to pick up a valuable point for the home side.

Himawan, who did not start the match, scored his third goal of the tournament and was ecstatic.

“It was such a relief to level the scoreline like that. Words can’t explain the feeling of scoring a goal with just seconds left ... I’m just happy to help the team avoid defeat.

“It is not just me who scored the goal. The whole team worked really hard for that goal. It was a collective effort and we’re very proud.” said Himawan.

“When we were down by two goals in the second half, we didn’t give up and kept fighting till the end. We motivated each other to push forward and that helped us.

“I want to thank all the Vamos supporters out there. They have been awesome throughout the tournament, their support is very important to us.”

Vamos must win their next match for a chance to advance into the knockout round. They will play Japan’s Nagoya Oceans in the final Group A match on Sunday and Bagus believes Vamos can pull off an upset.

“We face the three-time champions Nagoya Oceans in our next match, they are an experienced side and have been very solid so far.

“It will be the first for Vamos to face such a huge team like Nagoya and we will work hard as a unit to produce the best result for Vamos. I’m confident we can surprise them on Sunday."

Vamos head coach Reza Falahzadeh was in high spirits and the Iranian was confident of his team’s chances against Nagoya.

“Nagoya are a very strong team, with plenty of experience but we are Vamos and we are not worried about the match. We have to stay focused and we will analyse our mistakes and fix our problems before the next match,” said Falahzadeh.

Thai Son Nam, Al Dhafra brace for test

Saturday, August 4, 2018

Yogyakarta: Thai Son Nam head coach Miguel Rodrigo is treating Sunday’s Group B tie against United Arab Emirates' Al Dhafra like a final at the AFC Futsal Club Championship Indonesia 2018.
Thai Son Nam are third in Group B with three points following their 4-3 defeat to Nafit Al Wasat on Friday and Rodrigo stressed that their final group match at Gor Amongrogo is vital for the team to progress to the next stage.

Last year, the Vietnam side lost a match in the group stage but bounced back to qualify for the knockout round and went on to finish third on home soil in Ho Chi Minh City.

“We lost control of the game for a few minutes and it was enough for them (Nafit) to came back into the match. We dropped three valuable points and now we have to face a strong team like Al Dhafra," said Rodrigo.

“It's going to be like a final, not just for us but for Al Dhafra as well. I believe in my players so let's do it. There are many improvements to be made and I’m sure we can claim the three points.”

Al Dhafra drew 1-1 against Nafit Al Wasat in their Group B opening match but turned on the style to beat Korea Republic’s Jeonju Mag 9-2 on Friday and head coach Luis Cilleros is looking forward to facing Thai Son Nam.

“We dropped points in our first match against Nafit, today (Friday) we won 9-2 and we are going to play the next match against Thai Son Nam. We can be first, second or third, the goals will decide the outcome,” said Cilleros.

“Thai Son Nam are a very good tactical team with an experienced player in Roberto Tobe Belope. They are going to be difficult for us, as they play fast, but our team are the same. The team who make less mistakes will win the match."
